Charcoal Drawing on Toned Paper, 18in x 24in

This drawing is inspired by a portrait in my grandfather's old photo album. My grandfather passed away when I was young and no one in my remaining family was able to identify the man. This is often the case of family albums where memories of people and places survive as long as the last person that remembers them lives. Since no one knew his name, I decided to draw his portrait as a way to revive his image and memory. I may not know his name or where he is from, but I will never forget his face.
